Mr Goodyear, 51, joined the Board of Temasek Holdings on 1 February 2009. On 1 March he will become the firm’s Chief Executive-Designate and take over as CEO on 1 October 2009.

Known as Chip to friends and colleagues, he stepped down as the Chief Executive and Executive Director, Chairman of the Office of Chief Executive for BHP Billiton on 1 January, 2008. He joined the group as Chief Financial Officer in 1999, was appointed Chief Development Officer in July 2001 and joined the Boards of BHP Billiton Limited and BHP Billiton Plc in November 2001. He was named Chief Executive Officer in January 2003.

He is a former President of Goodyear Capital Corporation and former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Chip began his career at Kidder, Peabody where he advised corporations on mergers and acquisitions and financing.

During his nine years with BHP Billiton, the organization grew from a company with a market capitalization of US$12 billion to approximately US$200 billion, becoming one of the largest companies in the world in terms of market capitalization. As CEO he was early in the identification of China and other emerging markets as drivers for future demand for resources. During his tenure as CEO, BHP Billiton’s volumes grew by 55% as significant project investment and acquisition activity positioned the company to benefit from the growing demand for commodities.

Chip holds a Bachelor of Science (Geology & Geophysics) from Yale University and an MBA from The Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania. He has lived in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.

He has been a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals and the National Petroleum Council.
